AKOL Foundation Gives Free JAMB Forms to Students in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency
A non-governmental organisation, AKOL Foundation has Pledged to continuously assisting the less privileged particularly brilliant students whose parents are poor.
President of the foundation, Dr. Olasiji Olamiju who is also the Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Health made the pledge during the distribution of the free JAMB forms to selected students in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.
Dr Olamiju said if he could wangle his way out of poverty through the grace of God, any poor student can also make it in life, if necessary assistance is provided.
"I was in this situation before. I came from a very poor and humble background. There are many stars also in this category, so, if could make it, then there are lots of them that can also make it by little assistance. With a little push, they can be forces to reckon with tomorrow."
"This students are our tomorrow and we have to make sure they are all catered for so that they can reciprocate the same for those coming behind them."
"We have given them this oppurtunity and we pray they will excel," he said.
The Special Adviser praised Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his efforts aimed at revamping the State's education sector, adding however, that government alone cannot bear the burden of providing all the needs of every student.
"The foundation is doing this to contribute to humanity and to compliment the efforts of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in revamping the education sector of the State and promote equal access to education for the less privileged," he emphasised.
Speaking during the free JAMB forms distribution which took place at Ipetu-Ijesa Grammar school, Oriade Local Government Area and in Ibokun Grammar School in Obokun Local Government Area, Coordinator of the programme, Engineer Samuel Asegun said, the exercise started about four years ago saying AKOL Foundation will continue to assist brilliant students from the Federal constituency without any religious, ethnic, or political considerations.
Engineer Asegun who was represented by a board member of the foundation, Mr Wale Okiki urged other wealthy people to assist the poor so that the society can move forward just as he thanked the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health for his support.
Representatives of ANCOPPS, Local Government Education Authority Board members and leaders of the APC thanked the AKOL foundation and prayed for Dr. Olasiji Olamiju to continue enjoying God's mercy and favour.
The beneficiaries, also in their response thanked Dr. Olamiju for the kind gesture via his foundation and prayed for God’s continued blessing upon him.
In attendance was, ANCOPPS Chairman (Oriade), Mr Idowu Akinlayo; Chairman, Oriade Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Board, Hon. Abiodun Fakorode; Secretary, Hon. Isaac Arowosola; Hon. Satiregun Olayiwola; Hon. Kola Oyetola; Obokun LGEA Board member, Mr David Alare; former LGEA Secretary, Mr Oladipo Owolabi and other notable leaders, teachers and Principals in the Federal constituency.
