CBN Stops an attempt by Some banks to layoff staff

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a directive to  various banks in the country   to  suspend the ongoing staff layoffs.

The apex bank corporate communications director Isaac Okorafor made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday. “In order to help minimize and mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on families and livelihoods, no bank in Nigeria shall retrench or lay-off any staff of any cadre (including full-time and part-time),” Okorafor said.
