OYO STATE NANS CHAIRMAN VOWS TO MEET THE GOVERNOR

BEING A PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (OYO STATE AXIS) -24TH OF OCT 2019 DELIVERED BY COMRADE OMONIYI AFEEZ AND SENT TO ADEKKATV

Distinguished Students (home and diaspora), Comrades, Friends, Colleagues, Pressmen, Ladies and Gentlemen. I seize medium to extend my solidarity greetings to you all.

I will like to commend the doggedness and resilience of every student so far. It is also pertinent to  appreciate the executive members and senators across Oyo state. May God continue to shower his endless blessing on us.

Since no ship can sail without a captain, it is impossible to leave our ship 'captainless' and for this reason it is inevitably expedient that I  OMONIYI AFEEZ, the Vice Chairman of the NANS/JCC Oyo state assumed office as the Acting Chairman following the suspension of the Chairman, NANS OYO STATE.

Duties can't afford to wait, as casualties may be more than envisaged if lying issues are not attended to.

Students on our ship are faced with several challenges that requires urgent attention, therefore necessary quarters need to be visited to see the standing issues resolved.

On this note, I Omoniyi Azeez, the Acting Chairman of the NANS/JCC Oyo state has deem it fit to kick start by attending to the pending issues bothering and affecting the teeming students populace of the axis, and as such will be meeting with His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, the people's Governor so as to discuss and address the way forward suitable for quick resolute of all outstanding crisis, such as

1. The accreditation of the Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa.

2. The deplorable state of lecture halls at the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, as most lecture halls has become  inconducive for learning and therefore seeks urgent visitation to aid an uninterrupted and convenient learning environment for the students of the institution.

3. The cries of the wonderful and courageous students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology also requires urgent and immediate attention as students have been the victims of the crisis of ownership tussle/negligence of responsibilities of owners state government.

4. State of Campuses across the state can never be left out as most of our students are receiving lecture under unpalatable environment. It should be noted that the state government has not been supporting our institutions with projects like halls and other things like it used to be. The government should see to that so as to alleviate the suffering of our students.

5. More importantly, the indiscriminate expulsions and suspensions of student leaders and students who had stood against any anti-students policy across all tertiary institutions in Oyo state is a policy that needs to be curb to afford students the rights to freedom of expression, fair hearing, assembly and association.

We therefore urge all great students of this axis to keep all hopes alive as all necessary actions needed will be taken. We also seek your support, prayers and synergy in actualization of the goals.
A better, stronger and effective NANS/JCC Oyo state is achievable with our collective efforts.

Yours in struggle
Omoniyi Afeez
Acting Chairman, NANS Oyo JCC
