JUST IN: SENATOR OVIE OMO-AGEGE ELECTED DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege
The Senator representing Delta Central in the 9th Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has been elected deputy President of the Senate.
Omo-Agege polled 58 votes to defeat his closest rival and former deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who polled 49 votes.
The deputy senate president-elect was elected on the platforms of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Senator Ike Ekweremadu was elected under the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Both Senate President and Deputy President are now of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contrary to what happened in 2015, where the opposition PDP clinched the deputy senate President.
