Ilhan Omar who is a Democrat made history as she become one of the first two Muslim women to come into Congress, and IIhan Omar did so with her head covered.
She came into U.S as a refugee, from Somali and she is 37 years old. She is representing the fifth district of Minnesota, which encompasses all of Minneapolis and some of its suburbs.
Democrats, in accordance with the official procedure, were stop the ban on religious head coverings on the House floor yesterday afternoon, as part of a package of law to govern the House. That package changes the ban on head coverings to keep out "non-religious headdress".
That means IIhan Omar will be permitted to use her hijab when she is on the House floor to give speeches during normal sessions and vote.
