Buruji Kashamu

The Appeal court sitting in Ibadan yesterday sacked Buruji Kashamu as the Governorship Candidate for Ogun State  under the umbrella of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This new change means that, Oladipupo Adebutu is the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State.

The lower court gave Buruji Kashamu victory in which PDP filed a legal action against the Adedayo Bayo-led faction in the Appeal Court  to countered the earlier judgment.

The panel,in the ruling, which was led by Justice A.B. Bada, put aside the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abeokuta,the Ogun State Capital which gave the verdict that Kashamu and those who come forth from his camp were the Candidates for PDP in the 2019 election.

The Lead Judgment was read by Justice H.S. Samani which also had Justice N. Okoronkwo in the panel.

The panel held that the just of the litigant that made the appeal in court to have an equitable hearing were not followed as they were not served in a proper manner during the case hearing at the lower court.

Hon.Oladipupo Adebutu is now the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State.

In his reaction, Senator Buruji Kashamu through his media aide,Austin Oniyokor, reported that,Hon.Oladipupo Adebutu was not declared as the PDP governorship candidate and they are heading to the supreme Court.

The statement is giving below;

“We wish to clarify that contrary to the false news being spread by our opponents, the Court of Appeal did not declare Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu or anyone for that matter as the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.That was not the prayers of PDP who are the appellants in the matter and so such a prayer could not have been granted”.

“The Court specifically held that it was not a pre-election matter where the nomination of candidates is an issue since the matter was filed by the Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led Ogun State PDP and not aspirants".

“Having held that it was not a pre-election matter, the Court of Appeal could not have made a pronouncement on the validity or otherwise of the nomination of candidates for the 2019 general election".

 “our lawyers have taken steps to immediately appeal the judgement of the Court of Appeal at the Supreme Court.”
