MEDICAL SCHOOLS IN JAPAN RIGGED ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS TO FAVOR MEN
At a minimum,nine Japanese medical schools manipulated admissions, so as to keep out female students, this was found out by the government investigation.
The investigation was started in August, following the high prestige Tokyo Medical University (TMU) was seen to have manipulated the scores of females who applied from as early as 2006.
"I want the universities to make immediate and courteous responses regarding the situation of the applicants," Masahiko Shibayama was quoted when speaking with the reporters on Friday.
It was earlier reported in August by a Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper which attributed to a not named source reporting officials at TMU had taking by choice a "silent understanding" to lower the number of female participants who enters the university due to the conclusion that female graduates were not going to practice medicine in employment.
Previously in this week, Juntendo University set the cut off higher for women since women were better at communication than men and their advantage will be on face-to-face interrogation.
