DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, KABILA INSISTS ELECTION WILL GO ON AS PLANNED ON DECEMBER 30
The President of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Joseph Kabila reported that, the long-delayed polls will take place on Sunday in the presence of uncertainties on how readiness the Congo is to hold the election.
The Elections, which were first supposed to have taken place in 2016, have been postponed twice already and the country's electoral commission (CENI) postponed the December 23 Election as a result of a fire at one of its main store in Kinshasa, as well as the presently outbreak of ebola in the eastern part of the country.
"The date has now been fixed, the 30th of December, which is in two days time, and I believe that elections will take place on that particular date," Kabila told reporters.
Two days ago, the electoral commission reported that, voting will not hold in not less than three cities citing ebola and ethnic violence.
