UN REACTS TO KILLING OF NIGERIAN SOLDIERS IN THE BATTLE AGAINST BOKO HARAM
The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres in his reaction as damned the death in Nigeria by the Insurgents Boko Haram on civilians and security forces, most importantly in Borno.
Guterres, in the report released yesterday through his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, extended his “heartfelt condolences to the Government of Nigeria and to the families of those who have lost their life”.
The UN chief added that a lot of other bases were aimed at,according fresh reports.
“Those who violate international humanitarian, human rights and refugee law must be held accountable,” Guterres said.
He lamented that the attacks came as “national elections are due to be held in February next year”.
“The United Nations stands in solidarity with the Government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism,” the UN chief reported.
President Muhammadu Buhari in his own reaction to the massacre of military personnel in Metele village of Borno State, He promised that quick measures were being taken to secure that the loopholes which brought about the death were not allowed to reoccur.
