FOUR PEOPLE DEAD IN KARACHI AS GUNMEN ATTACK CHINESE CONSULATE
Four people were killed today when armed with grenades gunmen and a vest packed with explosives and armed with a detonator entered the Chinese consulate in the Pakistani city of Karachi, officials reported, with the attack claimed by a separatist group which branded Beijing “an oppressor”.
The authorities of Pakistani said that security forces had protected the area after the incidence, this is the current attack on Chinese nationals in the country, where Beijing has pumped billions of dollars into one of the biggest projects in its Road programme and massive Belt.
China “strongly condemned” the attack and requested that Pakistan should take strong measures to guide the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in the country,and in addition, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) mega-project.
Three gunmen force their way to enter the consulate in the southern port city, but were dealth with by the guards with their interception at the point where a check is performed, Karachi police chief Ameer Sheikh reported.
“They were holding Kalashnikovs. First, they hurled a small (grenade) and then started firing,” reported by Allah Bakhsh, a guard which is in nearby house that certified the attack.
The Police officials reported that two of their personnel were killed, together with a father and son from Quetta, capital of Balochistan, who were applying for the Chinese visas and were caught in the crossfire.
At least,a attacker among the attackers was wearing a a vest packed with explosives and armed with a detonator, which did not detonate,this was reported by another senior police official.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi,the Foreign Minister told reporters in Islamabad that “all the terrorists have been eliminated”, and that all 21 staff at the consulate during the attack had been taken to a place of safety.
The Prime Minister Imran Khan,in his reaction said that Friday’s attack would not undermine the relationship between Pakistan-China, which he portray as “mightier than Himalayas and deeper than Arabian Sea”.
