CORRUPTION IN PERU:ALAN GARCIA,THE FORMER PRESIDENT SEEKS A PLACE OF SAFETY



The former president of Peru has requested a place of safety at the Uruguayan embassy after being prevented from going out of the country. Alan Garcia is alleged of taking bribes from the construction company from Brazil Odebrecht in return for government contracts to construct a metro line in the Peruvian capital Lima. Alan Garcia,the two-time president goes against the charges and says he is just the victim of political subjugate.

A court barred him from going out of Peru while the process of inquiring is carried out.The foreign ministry of Peru affirmed that Mr Garcia had requested asylum from the Uruguayan embassy in Lima on Saturday, hours after the court issued was released.The request "should be evaluated by the government of Uruguay",This is the quote of from the foreign ministry.

Uruguay is yet to confirm or deny whether the asylum will be granted or not.The corruption that was alleged to him is due to his second term of his office, between 2006 and 2011.He was the President for the first term of South American country between 1985 to 1990.
